Greetings to the Brothers of #4!
The men of #4 have continued to remain busy this spring. Since the March stated meeting, several brothers have been initiated as Entered Apprentices and multiple practices have been completed for a Full Form third degree. The Full Form third degree for Adam Breedlove was conducted on April 16, with Grand Lodge in attendance. A Freemasonry Informational Meeting hosted by #4 occurred in late March with multiple men indicating a desire to petition #4.
The April 19 stated meeting did not lack in substance. Alex Reavis gave an educational presentation on Masonic sites he visited on his East Coast trip. Several petitions were read and investigating committees appointed for the respective candidates. The lodge also voted to purchase a laptop computer and software.
Several charitable endeavors were also funded at the April stated meeting. The lodge voted to provide charitable support to the African American Museum in Cedar Rapids. The museum will host a special yearlong exhibit on #4 member and current Grand Lodge member Kevin Sanders. The lodge also voted to provide charitable funding to the Dads Engaged in Engineering Dreams (DEEDs) group. DEEDS is a group of men working to increase the number and involvement of male volunteers who have an interest in increasing the positive effect that men can have on the educational experience at Lucas Elementary School in Iowa City.
Upcoming activities that will be occurring this spring are Public School Night on April 22 and #4 Night at a Cedar Rapids Kernels baseball game. The lodge will be conducting multiple second and third degrees in the coming month. All brothers of #4 are encouraged to sign up for cast spots on the Yahoo group or provide sideline support for the degrees.
I look forward to seeing the brothers of #4 at our upcoming degrees, activities and May stated meeting.
Fraternally
